Three events of particular interest in visual communication and design are scheduled for this October, focusing on Nicosia. The first is the hosting of Ink Project.Exhibition for the first time in Cyprus. This is an initiative of Corn Studio, which combines graphic design and illustration with other applied arts or trends of nowadays, and is a poster exhibition executed by designers and creative design companies inspired by the relevant themes. Travellink is the 5th consecutive exhibition of the project, after Swink, Dressink, Shakink and Filmink, which combined design with swing / jazz culture, fashion, cocktails and cinema respectively.

 

Travellink comes from the composition of the words Travel and Ink and is a call for designers to capture their ideas through modern “digital ink” in relation to the subject. This project was created to unite designers from around the world who share the same passion, graphic design and poster design in particular. On the occasion of the Travellink theme, the collaboration of the ΙΝΚ Project.Exhibition with  Graphic Stories Cyprus occurred, which will host the exhibition in Cyprus, adding twenty posters of designers from Cyprus and abroad. The purpose of Ink Projects is to promote the concepts of graphic design and illustration to the general public that may not be aware of their meaning. For this reason it has the form of an open party-event.

 

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 20:00, at Aigaia School of Art and Design, located at 81 Ayion Omoloyton Ave in Nicosia, while the works of the creators will remain available in the exhibition until the end of the month.

 

For the second time, the Behance Portfolio Review is scheduled to be hosted in Cyprus, this time in Nicosia with hostess Aggeliki MK Athanasiadi. Behance Portfolio Reviews are local meetings of the Behance user community around the world. In these meetings new and old members meet, analyze creative strategies, look at their portfolio, connect and socialise. The purpose of this creative meeting is to strengthen the relationship and interaction between creative professionals in Cyprus and create the right conditions for the further development of arts and design. Behance Portfolio Reviews hopes to bring together the thriving online community of Cyprus, to encourage and empower these creative people to share their ideas through the presentation of their work and ultimately to help them not only to demonstrate but also to develop their art.

 

During the 2nd Behance Portfolio Review Cyprus, participants will have the opportunity to watch and interact with remarkable invited speakers, to gain knowledge and experience and socialise with members of the local creative community in Cyprus and abroad. Guest speakers are the internationally renowned visual designer Charis Tsevis, the illustrator and artist Dafni Christoforou from Nicosia and the graphic designer Apostolos Tsiovaras from Greece. The event will be held at Aigaia School of Art and Design, on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 17:00.

 

At the end of the lectures, Behance Projects will be presented by new designers and there will be a dialogue with the public. The third event is a meeting between theater and visual communication. “Manolis” is a theatrical performance written by George Neophytos, directed by Andreas Vassiliou, and performed by Eleonora Vassiliou who interprets and directs the exceptional monologue of a Cypriot mother. Cyprus | July 1974 | Invasion | A contemporary shocking tragedy of a mother who unjustly loses her child and the only reason to continue living is because she waits for the trial of the guilty.

 

“Nicosia, the city of Utopia” is the subject of the International Exhibition of Graphic Stories Cyprus. The theme of the exhibition has, as a general goal, through the symbolic design of the fortification walls of Nicosia to portray the history, culture, the arts and the architecture of a city that was and still remains a crossroad of civilisations, arts and cultures and that can look for a future without walls and without borders. The viewers of the “Manolis” theatrical performance will have the chance to view 20 posters from the competition plus 2 more posters by prominent designers Rob Snow and Nikos Gazetas, which will be hosted at the same period with the exhibition at ARTos Cultural and Research Foundation. The inauguration will be on October the 20th , at 20:30.
