Animafest Cyprus, the Cyprus Association of Graphic Designers and Illustrators (CAGDI), and the Fairytale Museum in Koilani invite five illustrators and graphic designers who are members of the Association to participate in Tales in Frames.
We invite you to journey into the world of Nearchos Clerides’ folk tales and bring their stories and characters to life through Augmented Reality (AR) posters.
Participants will take part in a stop-motion animation workshop, where they will be introduced to the fundamental principles and techniques of the medium and acquire the tools needed to realize their creative vision, giving movement and life to the characters and stories that inspire them.
The workshop will take place at the Hambis Printmaking Museum in Nicosia on Saturday, 25 July, at 10:00 a.m.
The final work will take the form of an Augmented Reality poster featuring a hidden animation loop, activated by scanning the poster with a mobile phone. The works will be exhibited at the Fairytale Museum in Koilani during the 25th Cyprus International Animation Festival Views of the World, from 7–9 August, and will subsequently remain at the museum as a contribution by the creators to enrich its collection.
The aim of the collaboration is to encourage experimentation with different animation techniques, including stop motion, cut-out, and digital animation, while fostering the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and creative methodologies. At the same time, it seeks to highlight the creative potential of moving images as a tool for visual storytelling, exploring ways of transforming static illustration into a dynamic experience. Through this process, participants will have the opportunity to expand their artistic and professional skills by integrating animation techniques into their creative practice.
