Demetra Englezou

I am a Lecturer in the BA Graphic Design program at European University Cyprus and the Lead Coordinator of EUC’s international collaboration with Minjiang University (IDEC, Fuzhou, China). With over two decades of experience in motion design, 2D/3D animation, and visual communication, I bridge academia, research, and creative practice. I have worked professionally in the broadcast and film industries and participated in artistic residencies and exhibitions across Europe and China.
In 2012, I founded the International Motion Festival (IMF) — the first motion design festival in the Middle East and the Mediterranean — which has evolved into an internationally recognized platform promoting innovation and cultural exchange in moving image design.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes engagement through creativity, experimentation, and professional practice, encouraging students to take part in exhibitions, festivals, and interdisciplinary collaborations. My research focuses on the intersection of motion design, AI, and accessibility, with projects aimed at enhancing communication for people with physical and neurological challenges.
In recent years, I have represented EUC and IDEC in national and international conferences and competitions, achieving 3rd Place at the National Finals of China (2025) with an AI-driven sustainability project, and receiving the Best Paper Award at Minjiang University for The Value of Human Touch: Preserving Authenticity in an AI-Driven World. My ongoing mission is to foster cross-cultural dialogue and innovation, shaping the future of design education and digital creativity through meaningful, human-centered approaches.
