2nd Open Consultation – “Registry of Artists” Bill

Update – ΕΓΕΚ – July 16, 2024

Dear community members,

A delegation from CAGDI council attended the call for the 2nd Open Consultation on the bill concerning the “Registry of Artists”, held at the Deputy Ministry of Culture.

The consultation included the bill’s working group, the Deputy Minister of Culture, and various bodies, mainly from the visual arts sector, with CAGDI being the only body representing the applied arts sector.

After multiple letters sent by CAGDI with proposals to improve the bill, we announce that most of these proposals were accepted, with some even incorporated verbatim into the updated bill presented.

Members of the Deputy Ministry noted thatCAGDI is one of the few bodies that consistently responded to the Ministry’s calls and provided substantial and realistic proposals for improving the bill.

The results of these efforts give us the strength to continue the fight for the rights and recognition of applied arts and creators in Cyprus.

The Deputy Ministry invites all bodies to submit their final changes/additions/suggestions on the bill by Friday, July 26. As part of the open dialogue, we invite all our members to read the revised draft bill and send us their comments by July 24 so they can be included in the relevant letter to be sent.

We sincerely thank all our members for their continuous support and participation in our efforts. We remain committed to improving our professional field and will continue to work towards a fair and supportive environment for all creators.
